Memorizing not the way to solve Geography Form1 Form 2 and Form 3

Some students love to memorize maps for geography rather than understanding the syllabus. I do agree to some extent that geography is all about maps but there is a better way to learn, than to memorized.

Let look at below:
Look at the map, you will understand that most of the major cities in the states have historical or economical values. Rather than memorizing the location, i do suggest that students understand to the core. Through out the years, i thought students to study the map rather than memorizing the location. Studying the map and having full understanding of the map will help to strengthen the memorizing power.

Examples:
Georgetown: Is popular during the 1786. Farnchis Light is the founder.
Taiping: Famous for tin before it was worn out. Perak was relying on tin production. Even the
British tried to exploit the area
Ipoh: Famous for tin before it was worn out. Perak was relying on tin production. Even the
British tried to exploit the area
Malacca: The city is famous even before 1511 as the port is the rich with trade spices
Johor Bahru: Founded by Temengung Ibrahim father of Sultan Abu Bakar
Kuala Lumpur: Famous for the tin

If you study geography closely, most of the cities have
a) Economical Values
b) Political Values

By understanding the values, students will find it more interesting to learn Geography rather than blindly memorizing everything for exams.
